OUR STORY
Mark Of The Music is an indie safe haven ever growing library of our original songs. Lyrics are safe for work and family. We advocate for humanity sharing kindness, love, and understanding (and occasionally ranting against some evils of the modern world). We shared an album of humor and comic satire tracks for fun titled Funcapades, plus an album of eerie entertainment tracks for parties celebrating Halloween & Day Is The Dead titled All Hallows' Eve. We offer an album about life on the road as an entertainer titled Road Life. For 15 lenses on prospectives of love we created an album for Valentine's Day titled Guardians of Love. And for stories of general life, we have three albums titled Love And Friendship, Bits Of Life, and Illuminations. And we recently dropped our first METAL album titled Blue Blooded Metal Musings.
We believe people's lives are already filled with far too much anxiety, frustration, and dread. Relaxation through comradery, living in peace, and supporting the emotional understanding people need for feeling less isolated, is my writing goal, and supported by all who work with me. We want to make a difference.
We are many, We are one!
I am Mark J. Segal, the chief lyricist and composer. Most songs are lyrical tales and allegories from our personal experiences, plus shared tales of common activities looking at how they effect genuine emotions. I chose the music based in a variety of genres that I believe will help evoke listener emotional understanding of the lyrics and life lessons by creating an emotional substrata for the songs..
In the end, with finished songs, we build bonds with a variety of audiences. We help reduce negativity and volatility including frustration, anxiety, and feelings of isolation. Listeners have informed me they smile and laugh feeling "seen" and sometimes we help them clarify their own feelings. I'm also told using parts of our catalogue before bed helps some to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly.
Meanwhile others appreciate the more powerful beats to energize them to get through the day and even dance.
But the common theme is fans simply enjoy the stories in lyrics using my choices in music genres, as we are faithful to all music styles and sub genres except with fusions. And we accomplish all of it without using foul or explicit language, as we prefer euphemisms and colloquialisms that enable adults to happily comprehend and follow our lyrics, while those lyrics go above young children's understanding. And on occasion, we improve our listeners' vocabulary. It feels great to make a positive impact on our audience!
As of the end of October 2025, we have 114 tracks on eight albums and two singles, in over 20 music styles, plus sub genres, and musical fusions. We feature a variety of male and female vocalist renditions, including some duets, as I only perform some of the vocals. Our albums occasionally follow the formula of the music industry with only a few genres per album. But more often, the only formulas I follow are these for our albums and songs:
1- Start with real life events and the emotions felt.
2- Create thematic albums where the songs' stories are all related to the album title.
3- Create great music by selecting musical styles (genres) based on the emotional context that the genre supports in the story as a imperceptual but definitive effect on listeners emotional comprehension.
4-Unless a song is an experimental or fusion song, the music and vocals must be true to the original musical genre while still being original and entertaining. We always start by composing music we enjoy ourselves, so we can record our best performance for our fans!
