• Details: An unfeigned song commemorating the tragedy that took place on the frozen Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of Mono County, California, back on Feb 19, 1990. No one anticipated a lake elevated a half mile higher than Denver in the dead of winter could have its ice crack, giving way under the weight of a small group of campers.
  It was a tragedy that repeated throughout the USA until regulations for Ice Assessment by Park and Forest Rangers became the standard However, public safety is again threatened by the current budget cuts to our park systems. So a a solemn reminder is necessary, similar to the way the loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald needed to be recorded for the public by Gordon Lightfoot, highlighting loss and creating more understanding why weather and other safety standards for water vessels was so critical.
  The song is my reverse birthday gift, as my heart still goes out to the families who suffered losses 36 years ago and all others who lose children and family members do to a lack of funding by the government to enforce proper safety standards as we remember this historical milestone.
